From January 17 to 18, 2024 the first China (Chongqing) Intelligent Vehicle Basic Software Ecological Conference and the Third China Automotive Chip Summit Forum was held in Chongqing. The conference aims to build a high-end and pragmatic professional exchange platform for the development of China’s automotive software and chip industry, share innovative achievements, create an industrial ecology, build an open source, open and innovative ecosystem, and boost the high-quality development of the automotive industry.
Build the foundation together, open source sailing
This event is hosted by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, co-sponsored by China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, co-sponsored by Puhua Basic Software Company Limited, CEC Chip Technology Research Institute, Western Science City Intelligent Networked Vehicle Innovation Center, and hosted by Chongqing Hi-Tech Zone Administrative Committee of Western Science City. With the theme of “Building on Open Source”, the conference gathered more than 500 experts, scholars and enterprise representatives from government, industry, academia, research and application fields to discuss in-depth the hot and key topics of the industry, such as in-vehicle operating system, automotive chip, software-hard collaboration, open source and so on.
At the meeting, relevant leaders of Chongqing Municipal Government, Gouping, deputy director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, Wang Yanqing, director of the Information Technology Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Wang Haibo, chairman of the board of directors of CEC, and Fu Bingfeng, executive vice president and secretary-general of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), addressed the meeting respectively. Ni Guangnan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a keynote speech on “Open Source RISC-V for New Productivity Development”.
Strategic Cooperation + Innovation Platform + Open Source Project + Open Source Competition, Prelude to Open Source Development
At the meeting, the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and China Electronics Technology Group signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement between the two sides to reach a consensus on in-depth cooperation. The two sides will implement a high level of cooperation to build a deliberative mechanism, science and technology innovation as the source of power, around the creation of the national southwest region integrated circuit, intelligent networked cars, a new generation of mobile communications and other industrial clusters, top-level design, top-level promotion, and promote cooperation between the two sides to a wider range of deeper and higher level.
The meeting also launched the Puhua Basic Software (Chongqing) Co., Ltd, Puhua vehicle control hardware and software co-design center, Puhua vehicle control operating system and chip adaptation center landing ceremony in Chongqing, the three institutions landing, will be automotive chip, software better collaboration OEMs to build the development of the application of ecological, to deal with the challenges of cost reduction, speed and efficiency to take a substantial step forward. In addition, the Open Atom Open Source Foundation, China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Puhua Basic Software, together with China FAW, Dongfeng Motor, Changan Automobile and other more than 10 vehicle and chip companies to start the open source co-construction ceremony, jointly lighted the “China’s automotive operating system open source co-construction program”, announced that the EasyAda “The EasyAda flying microkernel project passed the Open Atom Open Source Foundation’s TOC evaluation and became the Foundation’s incubation preparatory project, and at the same time announced the launch of the “Xiaoman” safe vehicle control operating system project. At the same time, it also announced the launch of the “Xiaoman” safety vehicle control operating system project, which is the first scaled-up, mass-production open source vehicle control operating system in China after the release of the EasyAda “flying” microkernel open source project in May 2023.
At the event, Open Atom Open Source Foundation and Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology jointly announced the official launch of the second Open Atom Open Source Competition – Automotive Software Open Source Competition.
The industry concentrates, shares and promotes consensus, and beats the drum for high-quality development of the industry.
A number of industry experts and enterprise leaders from Chongqing Chang’an Automobile, Puhua Basic Software, Beidou Intelligent Link Technology Co., Ltd. and Guoxin Technology delivered keynote speeches to provide new ideas for the development of the intelligent networked new energy automobile industry in Chongqing Municipality. Lv Yiyi, Chairman of CLP Taiji and Chairman of Puhua Infrastructure Software, believes that the differentiation of product competitiveness of car enterprises is more in the application layer of competition, at the level of basic software, open source should be used to create a platform for the industry’s automotive operating system, the open source of the “small full” product, the contents of which cohesion of the sixteen years of experience accumulated by the Puhua Infrastructure Software. The content of its open source “Xiaoman” product unites Puhua Basic Software’s 16 years of accumulated experience. By the end of 2023, it will have realized mass production of more than 17 million sets, which has been fully verified by the market and is of international advanced level.
During the conference forum, a number of industry experts from CEC Group, Celis, StarHub, Marelli China and Wutong Vehicle Union discussed the theme of “The Road Ahead, Vision and Trends of Automotive Software Open Source Ecology”, and worked together to promote the construction of automotive software open source ecosystem to come up with ideas.
During the same period of the conference, two theme forums were also held, namely the Forum on Open Source Construction of Automotive Operating System and the Third China Automotive Chip Summit, in which a number of important research results and industry consensus were released.
